The nearly hundred-year-old War Memorial Park in Romsey, Great Britain has a new highlight in the form of a sculptural playground with a garden for the senses. The focus is on "The Globe" - the first rope play equipment with an external wooden framework from the Berliner Seilfabrik.
The new playground manages to combine the unique monumental atmosphere with the liveliness of playing children in one place.
The wooden frame with its warm colouring and clear geometric shape fits perfectly into the park’s natural environment. In addition, the spatial net offers infinite climbing possibilities for children and promotes their psychomotor abilities.
The elements of remembrance were carefully integrated into the design. In this case, the children are guided on a path full of sensory stimulations across recessed wooden thresholds, where they can discover quotes step by step.
Circular and in natural colours, the safety surface forms a matching frame for the climbing scaffold. A semi-circular stone bench and vertical wooden beams of different heights provide the perfect finishing touch to the play area.
Outside the circle, two groups of stainless steel play points were installed on both sides of the path. The so-called “Mushroompions”...Â
...and "Spirellis" of the Berlin brand URBAN DESIGN thus form the periphery of the newly designed playground and are a great alternative to the spatial net of the rope play equipment.
