Greensboro Children’s Museeum

The Greensboro Children´s Museum in North Carolina, USA, expanded its offer under the motto "Reaching Greater Heights" with the redesign of the "Outdoor Play Plaza" - a breathtaking climbing playground is being created.

The aim was to create a unique selling point in order to attract additional visitors. The playground was not only to be a collection of swings, slides and carousels, but a real attraction in the style of a theme park.

For the first time, two of the nine-metre high spatial net structures "Neptun XXL" from the Berliner Seilfabrik portfolio were installed next to each other and connected at their top by a net tunnel.

More than 3.500 meters of rope create space for up to 500 children to climb at the same time. The 500 meter galvanised and powder-coated steel tube of the scaffold keeps everything together and stable.

This 9-meter long net tunnel is another global novelty and a unique design feature. It consists of a closely meshed climbing net and has a diameter of 1.20 metres.

Not only does it offer the opportunity to move from one pyramid to another, it is also a great challenge to overcome your fear of heights.

At the same time, you have a perfect view of the Greensboro skyline from the peaks of the play equipment.

Behind the tangle of rope is a sophisticated geometric system that guarantees maximum safety.

By maintaining a certain mesh width and due to the special shape of the external scaffolding, it is not possible to fall more than 1.83 metres, although it is possible to climb to a height of 9 metres.

If you don't want to climb back down, you can simply take the curved stainless steel slide.

In order to round off the climbing landscape in a special way, the pyramids were equipped with various additional climbing elements: Climbing nets...

The children have access to the playground equipment at any point so that they can climb according to their own abilities.
