Europe’s longest Playground structure – “Aventura – the SpielBerg” in Medebach.
It all starts wobbly at the foot of the Bromberg. A large access net leads into a tree-house-like tower. And that is only the beginning of Europe’s longest climbing facility. Over a course of 168 metres, various tunnels and bridges, balancing elements and rubber mats wind their way up the mountain through various towers.
In Medebach, a small town in the Hochsauerland, a holiday resort that attracts hikers in summer and skiers in winter, “Aventura – the SpielBerg” officially opened in September 2015. The original idea emerged from the mind of landscape architect and biologist Jean Henkens. He drew inspiration from the Bromberg’s history – “where the wind sleeps.”
And so air, the signs of the four elements, became the theme of the giant climbing structure. The project was further developed and implemented by the landscape architects Gasse|Schumacher|Schramm from Paderborn in cooperation with the Berliner Seilfabrik.
Some of the towers are covered with bamboo panels in the Greenville style.
Large balls hang like cocoons between the posts in two towers. The course is a challenge for young and old climbers.
Different bridge elements made of ropes or rubber mats provide different balancing possibilities.
One foot in front of the other up to the top of the summit! Climbing and balancing promote the social skills of children in a playful way.
